Host of the FKT podcast and legendary Sawyer Ambassador Heather Anderson gives the scoop on her newest book Farther, set to release March 2026.
Read more about the projectOn March 1st 2018, I took my first steps away from Springer Mountain, Georgia to begin my Calendar Year Triple Crown. 251 days later I finished my hike on a sunny day in New Mexico.
Eight years later, my book about that adventure, Farther: 8 Months on America’s Triple Crown Trails, is being released.

The book chronicles the daily commitment and the joy in going farther…. farther than I had ever gone before.
The miles I walked took me farther into myself. Though I had tons of support and companionship along the way, there were still incredibly long periods of solitude. I was stretched beyond the previous versions of myself, finding strength to endure bad weather and near constant movement.

Throughout that monumental journey, Sawyer was a constant companion. Sunscreen throughout the high-altitude UV of the Sierra and Divide, Permethrin on my clothes during the AT, Picaridin during the plague of mosquitoes in Oregon and the Squeeze filter every day. Sawyer truly took me farther.

The months on trail took me farther physically as well. My body moved through adaptation, injury, and into resilience. I became hard and mechanical. There were depths in this effort that even FKTs had never plumbed.
Nearly 8,000 miles is a very long way to walk. I grieved the death of my father while determining how that loss would affect my future. Perhaps the most important question I answered was how it had impacted the way I viewed my past. The farther I walked, the more clarity I found.
I sat with this journey for many years; it took a long time to integrate it into my body and mind. Its impact has gone much farther than the final terminus. It’s reshaped the course of my life.
And now, I invite you to go Farther with me.
