Warmer Winter Could Lead To An Increase In Ticks

As more Northern Nevadans head outdoors this spring and summer, experts say hikers should be aware of a small pest that can cause big problems — ticks.

From trails around Reno to the Lake Tahoe Basin, ticks are active in brushy, grassy and wooded areas throughout parts of Northern Nevada. While Lyme disease remains relatively rare in the state, Northern Nevada Public Health reported 8 confirmed or suspected cases pf Lyme disease.
