Author of the Outdoor Minimalist and host of the Outdoor Minimalist podcast, Meg Carney, has been an outdoor and environmental writer for over six years. After studying communication arts and literature in Duluth, Minnesota, she pursued various outdoor-industry jobs that eventually led her to her current career in freelance writing.

Amanda Oliver

Amanda taught herself how to shoot a bow when she was bored one day—and a new obsession was born. Since then, she’s fallen in love with bowhunting and later waterfowl hunting (thanks to her husband who took her on her first duck hunt in 2020!). Amanda came to Field & Stream in August 2022 from USA Today with nearly a decade of commerce and product testing experience. She’s passionate about the outdoors and spends as much time as she can shooting her bow, hunting with her husband at Hart-Miller Island, and hiking with their German shepherd.
